Customs officials at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI), Delhi, seized 466 grams of gold, worth Rs 20 lakh, concealed inside a LED emergency light on Wednesday.
On the basis of suspicion, the Customs officers intercepted a passenger after he had crossed the green channel and was approaching towards the exit gate of the International Arrival Hall.
During the baggage search, four gold bars having mark - SUISSE 10 TOLAS fine gold 999.9 - collectively weighing 466 grams, were found concealed inside the LED emergency light which was kept in a box.
The passenger had arrived at IGI airport from Riyadh.
The recovered gold was seized under Section 110 of the Customs Act, 1962 and the passenger was arrested under Section 104 of the Act.
