It is one of the few phones that balances well between design and performance. The phone weighs 175 grams, but it is so slim and feels so light in hand that it feels like the phone was on a keto diet. The polished sandblasted aluminium chassis and curved edges of the phone add to its elegance and make it easier to hold.
The first thing you look at when you unbox a phone is its display, and the Edge 30 Pro has an affluent one. The 6.55-inch display on the phone is a 10-bit pOLED panel with an FHD+ resolution, 144Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. And it's curved on both edges.
During our time with the Edge 30 Fusion, we liked the colours produced by the panel, and the UI felt snappy at both auto-refresh and 144Hz modes. Also, it is plenty bright at 1,100 nits.
Powering the Motorola Edge 30 Fusion is Qualcomm’s last year's top-tier chipset — the Snapdragon 888+ — paired with 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage and 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM. Even though we did not spend much time with the phone, the experience was pretty smooth during our time with it . Although, we will be testing the smartphone’s performance further to see how things turn out.
For the longest time, Motorola has been one of the few manufacturers offering a near-stock Android version. Like the rest of the phones in Motorola's portfolio, the Edge 30 Fusion also runs MyUX, Motorola's take on Android, which is the closest custom skin to stock Android you would find on any phone. So, you get the plain stock Android without ads, plus some interesting additions -- including the iconic 'chop chop' and 'twist' gestures. One thing to note is that the Edge 30 Fusion boots Android 12.
You get a trio of 50MP+13MP+2MP cameras, and as you would expect, the 50MP is the main wide-angle sensor, with a 13MP sensor taking on the job of the ultrawide camera, and the 2MP sensor is for macro shots.
On a bright sunny day, the main and ultrawide cameras are good enough to get you some shots for your social media handle. But, both tend to suffer in low-light scenarios. Meanwhile, the 2MP macro camera is just for show and no tell.
The 68W charger, which comes inside the box, takes somewhere around an hour to charge the Edge 30 Fusion’s 4,400mAH battery. Meanwhile, the battery lasts almost a day on normal usage. Though, we need to thoroughly test the phone to see how it holds in the long run.
At first impressions, the Motorola Edge 30 Fusion seems like a good choice for Rs 42,999. The Edge 30 Fusion features a 6.55-inch 144Hz pOLED display, Snapdragon 888+ and a 50MP triple camera setup, which makes it a lucrative purchase for many. While it is early for us to decide if it is 'world's most elegant powerhouse,' it is elegant and powerful but with some caveats.
