Bad rulings from the Supreme Court just keep coming. We’re still processing the disastrous rulings from last week, but now we’ve got one more to add to the list: Today the Court sided with a public school coach from Bremerton who insisted on pressuring students into praying, according to the school board. He left his job when the school told him to knock it off. Now the Supreme Court has ruled that they will abandoning precedent on the separation of church and state, giving heightened rights to religious speech. The court is also expected to gut the EPA in a ruling due later this week.

Fundamental rights should not be viewed primarily as fundraising opportunities. The main character of Twitter this weekend was Zoe Warren, who brilliantly articulated the frustration that Democratic leaders had weeks to come up with a response to the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and the best that many of them could do was basically “give us $15 and vote harder.”

More shootings, of course. I know these things have long stopped coming as a surprise, but … two people were shot in Seattle on Sunday, one 17 years old and the other 25, both near the ID. Another person was shot near the CD. They’re all expected to survive, but the victims of another shooting in North Seattle both died. Other mass shootings this weekend include 1 dead and 7 injured in Virginia; 5 injured in Texas; 5 injured in New Jersey; 1 dead and 6 injured in Georgia; 1 killed and 3 injured in San Antonio; 8 injured in Tacoma; 4 injured in Minneapolis; 2 dead and 2 injured in Houston; and 4 injured in Brooklyn.

West Side Story’s Rita Moreno speaks out about her abortion: Back in the 1950s, she was in an abusive relationship with Marlon Brando, and at one point he forced her to get an abortion with a doctor who botched the procedure. “I could have died,” she said. Regarding the Supreme Court ruling last week: “I’m really nervous and frightened and horrified that this is taking place. I can’t believe that some of those people are telling us what to do with our bodies. … “We loud mouths are going to have to get busy. There are many of us. I’m thinking what are we going to do about this? If anything, this has reactivated us.”

Rudy Giuliani throws a fit over a pat on the back. Giuliani was campaigning for his large son Andrew at a supermarket on Staten Island this weekend when an employee walked by and patted the melting former mayor on the back. Security footage shows that it was a pretty mild thump, but Giuliani claimed that it felt like he’d been shot and nearly fell over.

If big crowds aren’t your thing, West Seattle Pride was a bit more chill. Neighbors enjoyed a nice, modest stroll this Sunday. Looks very pleasant indeed.

Let’s build that lid. The Lid I-5 project will hold a public walking tour this afternoon at 5:30 pm, with special guest Senate Transpo Chair Marko Liias. They’ll walk through the area under consideration for lidding, and also learn more about the effort to designate Freeway Park a Seattle landmark.

Starbucks workers led strikes all weekend. Hannah has some great on-the-ground reporting here, but basically the company is bothering workers by forcing them to re-apply for their jobs.

Here comes the train: The Sound Transit extension from Angle Lake to Federal Way is now 53 percent complete. When it’s done, it’ll get you from downtown Seattle to three new Federal Way and Des Moines stations in about 45 minutes. It’s scheduled to open in December of 2024.

I don’t know if you noticed, but it’s been kind of warm. Relief is on the way, with more moderate temperatures starting tomorrow. Not much precipitation, though, so keep watering your plants).

Washington is shaping up to be a sanctuary state for reproductive health. Inslee announced this weekend that Washington will not assist other states’ efforts to prosecute people who travel to the state for abortion-related care. He’s also planning to set aside more funding for abortion access, and he supports a state constitutional amendment to protect the right to an abortion.
